After the launch of the printed version of the book “Um caminho quase suave” on December 11, 2024, in the auditorium of the Institute of Energy and Environment of USP, in Portuguese, we are making available as of today, May 27, 2025, the digital version in English, with the title "When thunder roars go indoors!".
Although it is a book dedicated to children, the digital version aims to reach everyone (in English) and warn about the dangers of lightning and give tips on how to protect yourself from them.

Dr. Hélio Eiji Sueta, from the Scientific Division of Energy Planning, Analysis and Development, is the author of the book, which was illustrated by Juliana Lino Paranhos, who fantastically developed the illustrations, and Thaisa Burani, the editorial coordinator and proofreader.

The story takes place on a farm where children and teenagers, searching for two runaway puppies, face the different types of dangers caused by lightning. They observe two cows suffering from Touch Voltage; the dangers of using a cell phone plugged into an outlet on stormy days; a horse suffering from Step Voltage after lightning strikes a tree; tips on how to deal with step voltages due to short-circuit currents traveling through the ground; the problems of points of rods as preferential points for lightning; even shelter in a building protected by an LPS in accordance with the IEC 62305 standard, with Surge Protection Measures and a Storm Warning System.
The book, written in simple language and dedicated to children, seeks to convey some concepts related to the dangers of lightning.
