Breve síntese do que foi exposto: Energy and climate management in California is has emerged as an important case because regulations have supported energy efficiency and led to the decoupling of economic growth and energy consumption. California is also different from other American states due to the large share of renewable energy in its matrix. Recently, it has demonstrated leadership regarding its climate change policy. Regulations such as AB32 have set emission reduction targets and recently a carbon market has been established in the state. Prof. Kammen has been an active participant in several initiatives seeking the deployment of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and emission reductions in CA and in the developing world. In this seminar he will talk about policies and regulations supporting low carbon development in CA and in the world, and his experience as an advisor who has contributed to various low carbon initiatives.
